Entrepreneurship the next Employment Trap
We always misused each other in every possible way, form and level; the same applies to business and our use of the workforce or the human resource. First we were enslaving people , then we started scamming them into employment traps and now that in some countries people are kinda getting aware of their employment rights we started selling them the entrepreneurial dream.
And therefore we can see a huge raise in the number of motivational speakers, self made millionaires, digital nomads, freelancers, platform based business and so on and on. To be honest this is the new direction to our world economy because it is being heavily invested upon; and if you have the potential you will grow within it; at least until we humans realize again that we are being misused and then a new trend or scheme may replace it.
For now Outsourcing, Platform business Model, Gig Economy, etc. made it very easy for new entrepreneurs to enter the market. As per the stats in 2020 there were around 582 million entrepreneurs which increased by 60.9% in 2021 and that is 1.46 million new entrepreneurs. And at the same time the employment ratio dropped from 61.1% of the population to 59.2%. But most of these entrepreneurs are not much different than a typical employee whose limits are not the sky but the roof built by the employer or contract provider. An employer at least has some legal and moral obligations towards his employee but when it comes to entrepreneurs unfortunately they don’t get all of that from a contact provider.
So if you don’t want to end up from one trap into another make data driven decisions instead of following the trend. Invest in yourself and invest in understanding the market before investing on your ideas or the opportunity. And most importantly build the vision before building the business because a business without a vision is just an employment even if you’re not being misused.
